Whether you realize it or not, every time if you want to buy something, you seldom have a proper knowledge on the things that you want to buy. For example, let’s say you want to buy a set of Computer. Don’t get stuck just by telling your general need of a set of computer, but you still need to define what is the Detail specifications you need.
By defining your needs, You will create a goals or target. Which this target will be your guideline.
Guideline is important for you to save time & money. It can track your way down to your final progress and help your eliminating any side buying that are not listed in you guideline.
Guideline also great as your needs indicator, too. If you want to buy a handbags, your guideline will tell you what kind of bag you will need. For example, your target is to buy a “Pink handbag that have 2 mini pockets on the front, one hidden pocket inside the bag, using a magnetic button, it is made by crocodile skin and I have budget of $100“.
You see how this targeted Guideline will speed up you shopping time? You will not confused by the hundred of choice available in the handbags’ store and will not walking around without any target! And it will save you money too because you’ll ignore handbags that cost more than $100! ![]()
I always creates guideline when I want to buy something. Creating a guideline is very easy. You can note it down or just remember it in your head. But, I suggest you to note it down on a piece of paper because we tend to forget what’s our guideline when you’re in the shopping area.
It’s just too much Temptations that will make you forget your main purpose!
Easiest rules to create a guideline:
- Start thinking at the product
- Imagine the product in your mind, make a solid image.
- Describe what is the criteria. It’s black color, have hard cover, metallic or soft, small or big, etc, etc.
- Describe the feature that you want to include. It supported Core 2 Duo, It have 2 pocket, user friendly, handy, easy to remove, so on and so on.
- Lastly, Describe your Budget Limit.
Done! You have just created a guideline! ![]()
What’s next? Well, it’s time to go to an online (or offline) store to do some research. The reason to research is to make a price comparison and collecting some testimonials on your desired product.
Testimonial is very crucial because you can hear the “virgin voice” from the heart of user. They will tell you their pro(s) and con(s) about the product. Which will help you to understand your product before actually put your money on it!
How to research? Best way is by visiting some stores or review site.
For example, If your target is computer, you may go to:
- www.newegg.com (U.S. only),
- www.tigerdirect.com (U.S. Only),
- www.amazon.com
- www.eWiz.com (International Shipping), and
- www.ascendtech.us (International Shipping) to make a comparison.
You can also use pricewatch.com - They have automatically list out several vendors’ price for you to choose!
If you have another target, try using your favorite search engine to search for an online store that sold your product. Or try visiting Amazon.com, Buy.com or Froogle.com. They have huge range of products for you to choose.
Don’t just stop at one store and directly buy from them. Compare their price with other first. I always researches from min. 5 stores to bring back some data and calmly choose over them. Don’t make an immediate purchase or judgment. And Don’t haste. Because that’s the only way to save more money. ![]()
Well, you have opened the first door with the no.1 key! There are another 5 doors to go… This first door help you define your needs and research your product. It’s time to wait for the second key for the second door! ![]()
See you in the next key post. On the 2nd key, I will share you about my life principle in shopping: “Choose your brand Carefully!”
See ya and Have a nice day! ![]()
