3 Free Tools for Keyword Research

By Ken Xu on Aug 2, 2007 in Blogging, Technical Skills

Continue from the last post, I will reveal my daily use keyword Research Tools when creating my post.

There are mainly 3 free tools that I use most of the time. Although there are many other tools, personally, these 3 tools pretty useful for my daily researches.

  1. Home Biz Factory Keyword Explorer This free tool is my most favorite one in digging overture’s search database. You may be a little bit look down on it’s appearance because it’s awesomely simple! :)
No bell or whistle with a plain times new roman font only. BUT! This is a great tool, I tell ya!It not only provide you the data of the search count for each keywords, Keyword explorer also research for you automatically on the sum of competitor of the keyword on Google.

It help a lot because you will save your time searching for the competition of each keyword in google.

  2. Aaron Wall’s Keyword Suggestion ToolsOh, this is the heaven of Keyword Research tool. It give you a total researches and estimations from several Big Mamma like MSN, Google and Yahoo search counts.

This tool offer an extremely keyword analysis from several source and all of them is for free!

But something that is miss in the result data is to no provide the google competitor’s on the same page. You will need to switch to the other tool inside seobook.com tools resources.

  3. WordTracker Free Keyword ToolAlthough wordtracker is a paid service for keyword searching, they still leak out some of their tool for free uses to promote their paid one. What’s amazing about Wordtracker is they are not using Overture’s Database.

The previous two tools is using the same sources when researching. The result that appear on your click is not as much as overture for sure! But this tool is useful when Overture is having down time (happen sometimes lately). IF you want to know the same result as Overture’s, just times it by 8 or so.The result will not far from overture.

Last one is the optional tools for expanding your keyword reaches:

  • KWMapsThis tool doesn’t show you any search count. It’s different from the last 2 tools above. I use this primary to expand my keyword reach to dig more deep to the untapped niche.

KWMaps will help you refine and find new keywords. For example, when you type “blogging”, it will return you “Weblog”, “diary”, “journal”, “blogging freak” and many others. All results are clickable and ready to dig deeper.

That’s my list, how about yours? Give me your opinions and if you have some great tools, let’s share it together!
