Self-Confidence in Blogging

By Ken Xu on Aug 22, 2007 in Blogging, Personal Growth

confident-cat.jpgRemembered the first time Presentation in front of hundreds of people. My legs was shaking and my hand was trembling. It’s the scariest day in my life. But, somehow I managed to overcome the difficulty and make thing easier although I have thousands of audience.

But…

Long after I quit my activities, no more presentation, no more hundreds of eyes staring at me, I become loose again.

I believe, if I would stand in a stage and doing presentation again today, legs will shakes, hand will trembles hard again!

Well, self-confidence is just like a knife. If you use it and sharpen it regularly, it will become very sharp and easy to cut things. But if you just leave it alone, never care about it, never sharpen the edge, you will lose the sharpness to cut.

Self confidence will lose its ‘edge’ if you don’t use it everyday. In blogging, self-confidence is also a crucial part that you must ’sharpen’ it everyday…

There is some chance that although you have try your best to squeeze your brain liquid and produce a good post, yet, Some people will still trying to slap your face down to the earth and wish you to disappear from the blogosphere.

e.g. negative comments & Sarcasm Reviews which trying to make your as the worst human being in the world.

You will absolutely need a sufficient self-confidence to survive from those kind of negative comments and reviews. The high mortality of blog inside the blogosphere may because of the lacking of self-confident, too!

I read a lot of people blog’s who have ‘lose’ their edge and ‘gone missing’ because of a verbal harassments from their community. The one of many ways to turn this condition around it to have a sufficient Self-confidence.

I have read a fact about 1.500.000 posts is created each day (English Language posts about 500.000+ a day).
If you do not have enough self-confidence, could you handle this tension ans struggling within them? See this technorati Stats. Make sure you don’t surprised by the stats. :)

Beside handling negative comments, self-confident also become our ‘connector’ to the bloggers in the blogosphere. with a self-confidence, we dare to contact and communicate with people that we don’t even know how their face looks like.

Pearl wrote a good post about it, she even share you the tips to handle this matter and how to communicate with people you haven’t met.

“I was attracted to Blogging in the first place partly because of the way in which it enabled me (a shy guy) to connect with others interested in similar things to me. From the very beginning I enjoyed the relational nature of blogging but also the way in which it allowed me to retreat into my introversion from time to time.”

I quote this text from Darren’s post about the 18 lessons he have learnt as a blogger. You can witness his development in self-confidence through the quote.

From a shy guy to a pro-blogger who needs to connect with lots of peoples and presenting his idea in front of millions eyes! And I’m sure, Darren have built a rock solid self-confident now (as the result of 3 years tempering).

Blogging could really shape your habit and build your confident. Not only that, Blogging also will improve many aspects of your life. Make sure to see the positive point than the negative one. With that, you can survive and become the next purple cow within the 1.500.000 posts.
