I think Blogrush.com Widget has spread its wings wide until today. Since the first launch (last weekend), I have implemented the widget in my blog sidebar. If you still don’t have a clue about what BlogRush.com is, you could read some review from several renowned bloggers:
- Darren - Find New Readers for Your Blog - BlogRush First Impression Review
- Yaro - BlogRush - Will it increase your blog traffic?
- DoshDosh - BlogRush Review: Using Widgets to Get Traffic to Your Blog
- Andy Beard - BlogRush - Free Blog Traffic - Indepth Reviews
- John Chow - Increase your blog traffic with BlogRush
BlogRush managed to skyhigh its traffic to the roof. You could see its Alexa traffic rank shown by John Chow (above link).
But something that is pretty disappointing is, BlogRush couldn’t bring more traffic to our blog if our pageview is low. From my personal stats, I only get 2 clicks from 200 impressions. It’s mean I have wasted my 200 pageview into nothing but 2 clicks to my blog, yet, I don’t know if they are a 5 seconds visitor or not. Come and away like wind!
Darren from problogger revealed us his personal stats and he wasn’t get any high clickthrough rate also!
while my headlines have been shown around 70,000 times I’ve only had 35 clicks on them. That is an extremely low Click Through Rate. - Darren
You could read more about his confession about BlogRush on this post.
I think Yaro got the full image from this program from the start:
Will BlogRush increase your blog Traffic? The short answer is yes, of course you will get some. However don’t expect miracles. Even if the uptake on BlogRush is significant, which it will be, in my experience the click-through rates on these sorts of traffic exchanges are terrible. — Yaro
Widget in the sidebar always not able to get any serious attention from blogger and reader. Except they are a very curious browser or when they have nothing to do and browse around each corner of your blog.
Well, as this blogrush widget program is still in a beta state, we couldn’t judge it seriously yet. As John Reese claimed to have more advance planning to benefiting their users, I’m truly hope John could fulfill his promise to us.
You could find his comments in Replying some user who claimed to not getting any good result from this BlogRush widget at Maki’s Blog, and another comments on problogger.net about Adsense TOS violation.
I’ve also read some suggestion from Mashable.com:
But while we try to be open minded about new sites, the BlogRush idea does hark back to “Web 1.0″ traffic exchanges. In these systems, you would earn exposure for your site by browsing other sites. However, these services eventually flamed out when they failed to deliver on their promises. Our take: don’t get your hopes up, because this one may not last forever.
Wow, pretty bold, huh? don’t get your hopes up. Just make sure this tools wouldn’t become your sole traffic source. You will die from it. Is it true?
Nah, I don’t think we can’t make up this conclusion yet. It still have a long way to go. Let’s see what John Reese - the super marketer, could do for us instead of hyping his product across the blogosphere.
IMHO - In My Honest Opinion
Don’t hope a lot from BlogRush for now. You may put the widget on your blog for fun to collect more credit point for your future use. I don’t know if John Reese will make it as paid service or not in the future, you could always drop this widget any time as you wish if you see no result for couple of weeks laters.
There is a bunch of traffic generator that is far more better than the current BlogRush. Don’t get slaved by the new technology bluntly.
Personal Idea for tweaking Blogrush Widget
While putting blogrush widget in the sidebar is not good for your impression, Why don’t you put it at your end of your blog post, beside the related posts list? It could give your reader another option of reading.
I’m tweaking my blog single.php now to suit blogrush in the last part of my post and see if this action would rise the CTR or not.
Afterall, Join blogrush, and have fun with it. If you are lucky, you may be able to get a “Rush Hours” of Blog Traffic to your blog!

I put it on last week after I read it from a newsletter that I subscribed from a lady who owned an internet biz here. Then I read from Daren that night. (US Eastern night).
We will see…
2007-09-19 13:07:11
yeah, let’s see if John Reese could solve this problem or not.

People who don’t know much about SEO are making decent money from PPP because recently they offer a lot of high value ad. $50 and above for people like me whose page rank is only 1 :):).

Ken, I think the founder of Blogrush might had a big deal with #1 blog sites we’re reading.
I feel like this widget is not different from criteo autoroll widget. The only thing different is that autoroll lists the domain not the post.
You will notice that CNN’s web site has ‘Sphere’ plugin. I think that nobody is interested to click to see the related posts from that plugin.
I did not mean I don’t like widgets. Widgets are fun and some are really good for blog. But putting that widget in sidebar to get traffic is funny!.
Think about Robert Scoble’s blog, there is no widget. But has huge traffic.
Ok, I stop here and wait and see.

Yup, let’s see what John Reese would bring for us. I heard he have more advance planning to bring more traffic for our blog. But I hope it’s not about the 10 seconds visitor!

Thats the best part of it . They sell like This will clean your house and never get durty but conditions apply. If darren is getting 35 clicks where do chance other bloggers get and I dont think its a very good idea to get traffic. You might get good traffic but then is your blog strong enough to convert them to readers. Now if you say yes, you dont need this widget
2007-09-19 13:42:47
I would agree that I don’t need this widget. I will remove it this end of month since I want to see what Mr.John Reese is up to!
But to tell you the truth, It’s really scare me out of the hell to see the extremely low conversion rate. (35 clicks : 79.000 pageview).
I have agreed from the first time reading what Yaro said. But that stats just too low and break my imagination!
2007-09-20 12:17:02
I have not used their widget on my blog.
2007-09-20 14:19:22
your blog will not need this widget anymore, Nirmal. It’s traffic Jam already.

I will remove this widget(this end of month) if John couldn’t do any advance things with his technology. I think he won’t just waste his 8 servers running since the launching for nothing.
I want to see how a super-marketer could turn this situation around.
2007-09-20 12:47:14
I personally feel that widgets are nothing but waste unless some widget offers something useful. Not going by any stats, but by the simple fact which you mentioned that only serious readers will go through it and if someone is a serious reader of your blog then they’ll subscribe to feed.
2007-09-20 14:38:25
Oh, I’m really hope that his servers is not running for nothing now. If so, that is a HUGE waste!
