How Hard to Earn Your First $100 online?

By Ken Xu on Oct 12, 2007 in Online Wealth

Hmm… You know, I’ve been ask by some of my friends regard this question for several time already. It’s been the hassle of blogger to make this happen quicker.

Yaro, the mentor of BlogMastermind actually earning around $200 a day using his own techniques that he shared to his student at BlogMastermind Mentoring program.

But it cost you $77 right at the front door and you got to pay it monthly. Willing to pay? then go with this link (aff).

Yaro will show you how he earn around $6000+ a month and growing with his method of blogging.

Well, it’s no secret that earning $100 a day from the beginning of your blogging journey is nearly impossible. Except you are a great Marketer like John Reese or Michael Green, you probably needs 6 - 12 months to generate a substantial income.

money-bagBtw, Michael Green recently release his “another great product” after his Traffic Czar.

It’s called 20/20 Challenge. Challenging you to earn $20.000 in 20 days with Full Protection of Money Guarantee Back if you cannot earn in 20 days.

Wow, sounds cool, right? Well, if you are interested, follow this link to know more about Michael Green’s challenge.

It’s sound like hype but it doesn’t. Rosaline Gardner from NetProfitToday.com recommended this program as you could see in her blog:

[..] if you are ready to go beyond PPCC and affiliate marketing to create your own product - the 20/20 challenge is the perfect way to expand your Internet marketing horizons. :)

Yup, there is a smile there. See this post for the detail of Rosaline’s post on 20/20 challenge.

Well, it beyond blogging btw…

No wonder the mortality level is so high inside the blogosphere. Someone just happen to earn hell lots of money in 20 days without a blog!

Jealous? Feeling you have choose the wrong tao of earning money online? With blogging?

Oh, don’t stupid. Blog is your ultimate tool to make money btw, and Blogging is your activities to pull the money streams into your pocket! :) Just think like that and it will be easier.

Blog is a webpage too! Remember? If you have read the Authority BlackBook, you will know that Filling content to Web page and is no different with posting content to a blog. It’s only about using a more advance technology in publishing.

When expert want you to create a landing page, what’s the different with creating “page” on your blog?

It’s all located on your effort to promote the content, get enough traffic and BOOM!, your first sales and you earn money. Sounds easy, right?

Yeah! That’s how those internet marketers do it all this time! Although some of them are not working it out in blog platform, but every one will switch to blog in the future because of the ease of use.

Those internet marketer? how about me, the newbie and only know how to surfing and some HTML code?? Hmm.. that’s pretty hard, but still possible.

So, how hard is to earn $100 and with what?

Of course, if you are hoping to earn hell lot of money with Adsense from the beginning, you will 100% starve to death. Adsense is suitable for high pageview blog. And that is way some expert not recommending you to put adsense until you could generate more than 5000 - 10.000 pageviews.

The answer is ‘Selling Affiliate Product’, especially Clickbank e-products which have a high commission rate.

Count this:

Assuming you have 5.000 visitors a month to your blog with only 2% of total Clickthrough Rate:

5.000 x 2% = 100 Targeted Visitor to your Merchant Site

Assuming only 5 peoples out of 100 buy the product that you promote with each sale you earn $50:

5 x $50 = $250 a month

See the final result? Only 5 sales, $250 entered to your pocket!

Comparing with adsense?

Count this again:

My highest ever CTR in adsense stats is never higher then 2%. Assuming you have 5.000 visitors a month:

5.000 x 2% = 100 Clicks

Assuming you have earn a high $0.50 each click-through:

100 clicks x $0.50 = $50 a month

Now, which one is better? answer it by yourself! :)

Attention:
5000 visitors a month is not hard reach if you know how. For example using StumbleUpon. But a warning here, if you are using Stumbleupon to generate those traffic, you will not get a high CTR no matter how you optimize your page.

Sean from Warrior Blog Explain this topic excellently in his post about the Alternative to StumbleUpon and bring more targeted traffic.

I personally using those steps but not as extreme as Sean!

His method just work no matter what is your situation. You only need to add more energy to yourself to do what you should do to increase your stats and CTR. :)

How about Paid review or Sponsored Review like Payperpost or Sponsoredreview.com?

well, some of them need you to have a good among of post in your database and need you to blog for certain among of time before you could really start making money with them. And with the latest information about Google is penalizing paid links and sponsorship, I’m doubt about their performance in the future.

Building a blog for adsense solely is wasting time. Instead you should follow what Yaro teach you in his blueprint.

when come to the end, a conclusion is needed.

IMHO, affiliate marketing + article Marketing + Blog Engine is the best way to make money online for me. I don’t rely much with Adsense now since the CTR and payment is low.

Final words, I’m currently doing Affiliate marketing and Blogging at the same time. Although I have been blogging for 6 months already, May ‘blogging’ earning is no match with my affiliate earning. Although I blend them together sometimes, Blogging is no other then building relationship and get some popularity.

After you gain enough exposure, you will get money from it.

The ultimate earning source for me is through referral program. Not adsense (yet- but I’m sure I could earn good money later in the future with Adsense. :) )

How about you? What is your best monetizing source?

Hey, Thank you for the mention Ken

This was an excellent post and can be helpful to any novice BUT I can tell you from personal experience that it is SO much work to make money online  You also need to work very smart and be clever or else you won’t get far and all your work can be in vain.

One thing I learned that any novice can find helpful: You won’t make much in the beginner and you just need to “get the ball rolling” or gain momentum before you begin to see result.

    Thank again,
    Take care!

Fantastic post, Ken! I think you’ve laid out the best way forward for beginner bloggers - heck, even for most bloggers! Even if you were to look at someone like John Chow, it is his affiliate income which consistently stakes the largest % in his monthly blogging income. So far my main sources have actually been Adsense and the few sponsored posts, as I am not finding many products which I can honestly promote and still look my readers in their eyes. I will include affiliate programs in the near future soon when I am done with changing my blog layout slightly to accomodate this and setting up my advertising page.

YC, I couldn’t agree regarding this statement, “…as I am not finding many products which I can honestly promote and still look my readers in their eyes.” I have a UNIX HOWTO blog and I have to be darn careful as to what I put on the site; otherwise, my tech savvy readers would get the wrong projection of me.

    Good post Ken.
I just reached my $500 mark after 2 months with PPP.
It is not a bad part time income consider I spend less than 10 minutes per post.
But, that is little compare to your affiliate marketing, of course.

Great post. I have experienced similar trends even though my site is still very young (I’ve had a blog for a while although I don’t update it all that often as it was a blog targeted at a small audience when it was first launched).
